Course Reflection

Throughout my time in our multimedia course, the way I feel I have grown the most is in my appreciation of the power of multimedia tools in the classroom. While I have understood in principal how effective different multimedia tools are, having an opportunity to practice and use different tools has been very valuable in helping me grow as an educator.
The tools that stand out the most to me are screencasting and audio recording. I purposely avoided using these tools in the past since I felt that static text could pretty much do the same thing, and I could show my students in real time in class rather than use a screencast. However, after teaching my first blended learning course, I now see how useful these tools are to duplicate the immediacy that is lost when utilizing distance learning.
I will continue my learning via taking additional courses and continuing to learn about new technology tools and pedagogies to bring to my students, and I appreciate my time learning from our instructor and my classmates.

Enjoy the remainder of summer everyone.

  1. Hi Tony,
I too felt that the screencasting and audio recording were the standouts for this course. I really like how USF courses give us the opportunity to practice and use the tools that we will be using in our own classrooms. I think that screencasts are something that I will probably use more than anything next year as my district goes 1:1. I hope to have a set bank of videos that I can develop to help my students in various areas of study. No more repeating myself.....I'm just going to say watch the video again you still don't know what to do. Enjoy the rest of your summer too!

  2. Multimedia is so very powerful and can be easy to incorporate. I am glad to read you came to appreciate the value of multimedia as you taught a blended learning course. Multimedia can bridge the differences in face to face and online learning environments.
